i had my tribunal hearing via the phone yesterday i was on the line less than 10 mins and had made the decision to award me higher rate mobility to go with my standard rate living before they spoke to me

i am now trying to work out how much they need to pay me i pit the change of circumstance in in 01/05/2019

and did a MR on 20/09/2019 , also while i was on the phone the man said something about 3 year weather he said they will back date 3 years or the award will last 3 years ( its usually 4) i dont know what he said now as it was all a bit of a blur as i was geared up to be on phone for an hour

if they were to back me 3 years from when i informed them about my change in circumstances last may then that would be roughly 3!years since i started getting pip what does everyone think 3 year back date or 8 month ??

    Hi,

It definitely won't be backdated for 3 years i'm afraid. As you put in a change of circumstances then it should be backdated to the date you rang to report the change of circumstances providing you had experienced the worsening of conditions for at least 3 months when you rang.

Not sure what you mean by "it's usually 4 years" a PIP award can be anything from 9 months to 10 years, which is the maximum award length, so yes your award could be for 3 years.

You will of course be sent a letter from HMCTS with your award notice on it. Backdated money can take 8 weeks under normal circumstances. As these times are not normal circumstances then it could take longer. Hopefully you won't be waiting too long.
