Post Op Pain Sitting Down...

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have been following the posts on the site, and have read reports of post op patients experiencing pain sitting down.  Is this usual, and if so, how long does it last, and are there remedies?  For example, donut cushions, etc., that are designed to take the presssure of certain areas of the body?    Does it perhaps, depend upon the skill and technique of the surgeon?

I think it depends where your scar 'hits the chair'

my scar is at the side but I read it often goes backwards.

That makes sense - I feel it more in my recliner than our bamboo conservatory chairs.

    Hi susie,

Posterior approach means that you will have a sore posterior! I felt as if I had been kicked by a horse for a few days but it soon wore off.

Anterior approach means the surgeon goes in through the front, lateral approach means to the side. They all have advantages and disadvantages. Each surgeon has his own method.

What to do about it? Well have something soft like a donut cushion or a blow-up travel cushion. Travel ones are in Boots.
