Robotic Prostate gland removal operation in Jan.

post op 3 month PSA 0.01

today's results ( 6 months post op ) 0.04. Urologist is leaning toward rad treatment. I asked for another PSA test in two weeks before we jump the gun on this. While biopsies of glands during surgery showed clear, the doc said that there was C-cells on the outer layer of the prostate. OR sometimes there could be cells left over...

Anyone with similar results post op ?

Thanx,

Don

I had my prostate removed 2 years ago come Nov.

PSA 0.07 after op last check 0.03 only because testing lab changed local RO totally contained biop.

I am wondering were considering rad for PSA 0.04 which is the lower reading detectable by blood test!

Maybe they do things different in Germany but can it be so different I often hear patients being told 0.07 is clear.

Maybe ask your Urologist for confirmation.

This reading I have has not changed going forward to two years.

I don't think it is a location thing so much as a dart throw to a good solution. The Urologyst said that 0.04 was his groups starting point to

take notice. He also said the practice also goes by higher numbers such as 0.1 to 0.4.

Thank you for the response. You verified what my wife and I talked about.

if we meet someday the beers on me ;-)

I had removal in Jan 2013.   By Feb 2014 cancer had reformed in the Prostate bed but PSA was not raised.   Following RT for 33 sessions by PSA has maintained at 0.01 and CT scan is clear.

The surgeon that did the operation should be giving you complete information about the results.  They need to avaid talking in doc speak and give you complete information regarding any future thearpies, including any radiation. How did he know there were cancer cells they did not get? What evidence does he have?  Before any additional therapy is done they owe you reasons and options.

    Hi,

I belive I am in the same boat as you, I had my prostate removed 6 weeks ago, bone scan clear, lymph nodes removed and also OK but pathology stated that there might be some residual cells. Having my first post op PSA test in about 2 weeks. Let me know how it is going for you.

    Thanks,

    Mike

My husband is 46 nearly 47 he had a Gleason 3+4=7, 13mm tumour lower left front side of the prostate nestled close to the left nerve cluster he had a Radical Ro otic Prostatectomy in March 2016. The surgery went well and his continence is pretty good and he can get erections but does use Cialis on occassion.

His first PSA 3 months Post op was 0.4 which is high a month later it went to 0.45 and he just had another last week and it is 0.68 his surgeon believes it has spread to his lymph node's and wants to start radiation therapy. My husband is at this stage debating whether he wants further treatment or not. The risks of having the radiation therapy is the potential permanent loss of erectile functionality, incontinence and rectal incontinence, and they can't guarantee it hasn't already seeded elsewhere, he has had PET scans and at this stage they think it's too small to see anything but they don't want to wait till it's grown because it may be untreatable... big decisions to be made this week.. good luck to everyone..

If there is cancer out of the prostate bed and they recommend radiation get it done . Ask yourself if sex is that important over living . Many men in many forums I belong to have a prostectomy and for some very stupid reason are not followed closely and end up with metastic spread .

Thank you. That is what is what I'm doing. Last PSA results Tuesday was 0.6 another 0.2 uptick. If next test adds to the trend Doc,wife and I agree I go see a Radiologist.

All the best to you, I get my 2 months post op PSA  results in a week.  even though my incontinence is mostly gone and I can get an erection with pills , I will still opt for radiation if that's what it takes.
