Has anyone stayed on their Effexor and had no issues with their pregnancy/ birth defects? Also how was postpartum for you?

hi, i was able to speak with a perinatal psychiatrist when pregnant (8 years ago) and he advised that for my situation it was best to get to as low a dose as possible if I stayed on it. I managed to get to 37.5mg.

There are various risks but one thing that I found helpful was that if I was able to breastfeed the baby would be able to gradually withdraw from it, as there is less in the milk than in bloodstream when inside you.

Amazingly there wasn't anything wrong with my baby that could be related to venlafaxine once born.

I remember not being able to find anyone who was on venlafaxine whilst pregnant so your post caught my eye.

Hope you are able to speak to someone about your situation. I think its best done on a case by case basis.

    Take care xx
