Problem with skin around toe nail

Hello, for the past few months I have been struggling with the skin around my big toe nail. Started off just on the big toe and spread to the 2 next to it. The skin is swollen, red, bleeding and has a throbbing sensation. It almost looks like a blood clot around the toe nail i will attach a photo if anyone has had the same thing and know what it may be? i have had a week of antibiotics and did not help. thanks.

    You have certainly got a very nasty infection there. Carry on with any antibiotics left and if no improvement go back to the doctor who gave them to you, he/she may decide to give you another type. Do you cut your own toenails and possibly push back cuticles? This could cause this sort of infection, especially if your implements are not sterile.

    You may need to see a chiropodist for further advice.

    If that redness should start tracking from your toes across your feet, you need urgent attention, possibly A/E.
