Prognosis for a person with two completely occluded carotid arteries?

69 year old stroke victim with two occluded carotid arteries. Surgery is not an option. Awake, aware, compus mentus but left side paralysis. Whats the realistic prognosis here? Can a person live without carotids for a significant amount of time?
