Pseudomonas???

Hi, I have bronchiectasis and I cultured pseudomonas. I have since been told it's now colonised and will probs never go away. My question is tho, would it be bad for me to date someone else with bronchiectasis? I don't want to pass any bugs or infections on.

Go for it. Who knows with whom we interface daily. As long as whatever risks are understood by both parties, its a no brainer. Just be honest about your condition with a prospective partner and they will respect you for that

It may be good for both of you as you each understand the difficulties of this horrible condition.. Best wishes

IMHO if a non-pseudomonas BXer dates someone w/pseudomonas, they need their head examined. Why would you risk inflicting this on the one person most susceptible? Make sure they know they're facing acquiring something that will make the rest of their life much worse.

As someone who doesn't have pseudomonas, I hope you are considerate enough to wear a mask out in public. Yes, I wear one much of the time. If I had to use public transit, I'd always wear one there. I avoid crowds. But I know full well that I am most dangerous to other BXers, anyone of any age on chemo for any cancer, and all infants and elderly. Could not live with myself if I learned that my bad habits in public harmed others.

Don't listen to people on this forum. Speak to your specialist. Ive been told there is no evidence that pseudo is passed on. That's why they don't isolate you in hospital. Pseudo is in water and soil. It's a bug that "normal" people can fight. We can't. I urge you not to listen to me or anyone but seek professional advice and explanation. This is not the forum for your serious concerns which will affect your life.

Thank you for all replies. Will be speaking to consultants for advice. Just wanted people's opinions.

Don't apologise for having an opinion pal.

I was going to ask the consultant either way just thought I'd actually see what others thought before hand!!

I was diagnosed with Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Pneumonia 2 years ago and do Tobramycin breathing treatments 28 days on and then 28 days off. I can never completely get rid of the Pseudomonas but only keep it at bay, but I am not contagious and if you have Pseudomonas then you are not contagious.
