Purple foot and leg

I broke 2 bones in my ankle about 8 weeks ago. No surgery as they were aligned and was put into a walking boot with no weight for 3 weeks and then minimal weight. Boot has been off for 2 weeks and replaced with an ankle stabilizer. I use canes to get around when going outside or down stairs. I started physio yesterday. I have noticed not being in the boot that when my foot is down, my foot turns a purple red. The longer it is down the darker it becomes and the leg starts to go pinky as well. As soon as I elevate the foot the colouring goes back to normal. I have had an ultrasound for DVT, but it showed no clots. Is this discolouration normal? How long does it last? It worries me. I am a cashier and on my feet for the shift. I haven't gone back to work yet, but wonder if it is healthy to be discoloured like that for 4 hours or more. Thanks for your input.
