Questions about Disc Replacement Surgery

Posted , 1 user is following.

I have chronic back pain but it's not as debilitating as some other people. Some days are OK and others are pretty bad. The worst is that I can't run or ride a bike or do much other than walk around and sit in a chair.

My L5-S1 is pretty degenerated and is only a few millimeters in thickness the nucleus being gone. I am afraid of the side effects and not sure of possible complications. Does anyone come out 100% or is there a limit to how much better off you could be. I've spoken to doctors but I have trouble gauging how serious this would be.

How bad off you need to be before you should consider disc replacement?

Has anyone had this done? I would appreciate if some could share their experiences.

Thank you!
