Racing anxious thoughts

Sometimes I get the stupidest thoughts that cause me to become anxious. This morning I walked out into my kitchen and the sun glared in my eyes. I think the thought I had was "what is the sun". Then suddenly I got anxious for no reason pondering on the thought. Does this happen to anyone else?

    Hi Daniel,

i used to be exactly the same. I can remember a few years ago, walking into the kitchen, first thing in the morning and seeing a knife on a bread board. The thought of the knife and the damage it could do terrified me. For days afterwards I couldn't get the vision of the knife out of my head. I'd sit on the train, on the way to work, shaking with anxiety and crying because of the knife! How stupid does that sound? I'd imagine all sorts of scenarios but ultimately it was the actual vision of the knife and the breadboard that terrified me.

anyway, that was a few years ago, and the feeling lasted about 2 weeks. In hindsight, I can see it was probably a reaction to a stressful situation that was going on at the same time.

Do you have a stressful situation that is perhaps manifesting itself In anxiety and bad thoughts?
