Reality altering dreams and other sleep disturbances, please help

Posted , 1 user is following.

I'm 19 and have had problems with my sleep for as long as I can remember, to the point where I feel that it significantly affects my life. I saw this forum and just wanted to see if any one had similar experiences or might know why this is happening. I've listed below what experiences I have on a regular basis, any help or insights would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Note: I have no medical conditions and am on no medications.

  • Reality altering and vivid dreams:

I have started having extremely vivid dreams that replicate real life events. Throughout the day I am often confused about what what I dreamed and what I remember, and trying to figure out which one really happened scares me quite a bit.

  • Confusion and disorientation:

Maybe once a month I will plan to wake up at around 9am for work, but then I will wake up in the middle of the night (without knowing) and go an have a shower and get changed to go to work even though it might be 2am in the morning. Even though I am certainly awake somehow it always takes me a considerable amount of time to figure out what time it is and I am always extremely confused, this has happened at least 4 or 5 times.

  • Sleepwalking:

I have had numerous episodes of sleep walking, being found staring at a wall around my house or trying to get out the back door. It doesn't happen as much as it used to, but still occurs.

  • Screaming and yelling in sleep:

I often scream and yell in my sleep at night.

  • Talking in sleep:

Every single night I speak full sentences and say crazy things in my sleep (I have a sleep talking recorder app). It has always been this way and often what I am saying is so clear that the sleep recording app records that someone is talking rather than sleep talking.

  • Choking in sleep:

This hasn't happened for a long time, however it is by far the worst experience that happens to me in my sleep, When I was younger I would wake up and have the horrible feeling of choking. I would always be face down (assume I'm choking on my pillow) and it would be that I was awake in my mind, but couldn't move my body until the last second where I was sure I would choke. Always at the last second I would be able to force myself to turn over, but it would feel like the hardest thing to do. This happened at least 4 or 5 times.

  • Frequent movement in sleep:

I often kick and move around a lot, often I will wake up up side down in my bed with the covers all over the room. Whenever I am sleeping in the same room with others, they often comment on how they see me sitting up at night or making excessive noises from moving around so much.

  • Daytime tiredness:

I am always tired, even though I always get 8 hours of sleep, throughout the day I am constantly tired, which seriously affects my concentration and my ability to work. It affects my social life as I rarely like to go out late as it my take me 3 to 4 days to catch up on sleep and feel normal again.

  • Frequent headaches:

I have had headaches almost everyday for as long as I can remember, they move around different places in my head, sometimes at the front, back in my temples or sinuses. I've seen numerous specialists about it but none have really found anything conclusive. I often think they are in some way related to my sleep.

Sorry if this is a long read, but any help or insights on similar experiences, help or what may cause this would be appreciated, thanks.
