Really Confused - Need some Advice

Hey all,

I'm new to this forum and just wanted to introduce myself and also seek some important advice.

A bit about me - 27 years old, 5'6 and at present 114lb (usually 143lb).

Ok, so I'm not going to make this long, just very brief and I hope you guys can give me some constructive advice.

Last 3-4 years have been very stressful and I have had a terrible diet (all changed now and I am eating very clean). in July 2016 my weight dipped from 65kg to 57kg (143lb to 125lb), I attributed it to stress and improper eating (although I am pretty sure I ate around 1800 calories per day). Fast forward in April this year I have dipped even more to 114lb.

Other symptoms during this time include on and off sore throat (which feels like someone has put cigarette ash down my throat), tender trachea from time to time and blood in stools (although this has happened for the last 5 years and the doctor attributed it to hemorrhoids) and also feeling extremely hungry throughout most of the day.

Anyway, during this time I have been to the doctor countless times and upped my calorie intake and the last 5 months I have been eating around 2300 calories per day, which is more than enough for a guy of my size. Last month i was finally referred to a gastro consultant and he put me forward for the following tests: Barium Swallow, CT scan of Abdomen, Blood tests and a Colonoscopy. I was also put forward for a endoscopy through the mouth which I attended, but was too painful for me so it was abandoned. In addition, the colonoscopy was the same and I couldn't bare the pain and it was also abandoned.

Fast foward to last week, I got the results and the barium swallow, CT scan of Abdoman and blood tests all came back normal. The consultant told me this over the phone and told me to come and see him on the 9th September.

I am extremely confused and really don't know what to do, the symptoms are very worrying and I really need some solid advice from you guys.

Any help/advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks guys

I think the endoscopy and colonoscopy examinations are crucial for the diagnosis. Did they do this after giving you a sedative? Some kind of anaesthetic might be necessary for repeating their attempts to do this examination.

Your system may be inflamed, and anti acid medication may be part of the treatment.

Hi--I am not sure why you were given all these GI tests and the abdominal scan.  Was it due to unexplained weight loss?  I also don't know why some doctors or hospitals are still giving the endoscopy and colonoscopy with the patient awake.  My GI specialist puts one out and it works a lot better as many people simply can't tolerate these procedures otherwise.  Anyway, I find it hard to believe you were put through all that merely for a sore throat, which was really something for an ENT physician.  Have you had any abdominal pain, unusual-looking stools [other than the blood] or vomiting?  Am I correct in thinking you are worrying because you can't regain the weight?
