    Hi Laura

Please don’t be like me and work yourself up with dr google. Just try restrict this and only seek the advice of your GP and other specialists.

I had a similar situation earlier in the year. I had no idea I had IIH, i was just going for a optom check because I wanted some glasses for work. Anyway, I’ll try keep it brief. My optic nerves ended up being swollen, I got referred to a neuro-ophthalmologist who confirmed this, I had MRI’s done and then a lumbar puncture to drain the excess fluid. And since then, which has been since April, I’ve been on diamox. My optic nerve levels have come down gradually, and I can eventually slowly ween off them after a year.

I wasn’t overweight, I have a feeling and so do my specialists that it was to do with being on the pill. I came off the pill the night of my lumbar puncture procedure. So there isn’t a way to definitely tell if the reason I’m improving is bevauee of that, because I started the medication at the same time.

Basically, ride it out. Do all the necessary tests, and follow the plan from your doctors. Take care of yourself, and you will be okay. The first part is the hardest, but once you’re aware of what you’re dealing with and you’ve detected it at the right time, there’s no reason why it should affect your quality of life in any way. Nowadays I don’t even feel like I have anything wrong. All the very best to you. I tried to keep it brief but let me know if you have any other questions.
