Scared about cancer referral on cervical mass

Posted , 2 users are following.

I went for a vaginal ultrasound on Wednesday after having very slight bleeding before Christmas. No other symptoms except for bladder issues which the doctor always said it was age related. During the scan she asked if I had ever been diagnosed with fibroids which i hadn't. After the scan she said she was referring me to a gynaecologist as it didn't look right and was heterogeneous in appearance. I am now on the 2 week cancer referral program. I am absolutely terrified this could be cancer. All smear tests have been clear.

Well done for getting checked out. The scan has picked up something in your uterus which may or may not be fibroids and the clinician has done the absolutely correct thing to refer you quickly. Nobody on here can tell you what they are, but try not to stress too much, it may be nothing at all, just an irregularity. You are getting the best of care. A 2 week referral does not necessarily mean a cancer diagnosis. Most are not.

The mass is probably not on your cervix. it is probably in your uterus.
