Scared to death

I was on Zyprexa for 20 years. First 10 mg then 7.5. Decided 7 weeks ago to take myself off. Was in psych er twice but soon escorted out because i wouldn't agree to go back on it. Off and on for 5 weeks. Mostly off. Awful withdrawal. Hopefully will get better.

What is your major Withrawl symptom Gary?

Are you managing to sleep without Olanzapine?

The usual horrifying physical symptoms. But, more embarrassingly, an extreme lack of self control in both what I say and respond to every day issues that most people find commonplace. This reveals immaturity on my part that has never been addressed in part because of too many meds. What was I thinking taking Zyprexa for 35 years would help, and how do I live with myself going forward.

Everyone is different and some people are able to cold turkey no problems but that's rare.. mostly people have to taper off it very slowly. Zyprexa is a nasty drug in my experience..

You did say though that you are mostly off? This is dangerous for people who have been on it as long as you have because if you are off too long and need to go back on there's a chance that going back on won't help the withdrawal symptoms.

Safest thing you can do is slowly reduce the dose over maybe i'd say at least a year or two. I know that's probably not what you wanna hear but tapering is the safest thing you can do.

I was on15mg for 3 years then tapered for 9 months. Am off for 5 days now and feeling good about it so far. I do have insomnia but not worried about it.

When you say you have insomnia, do you manage to get some sleep or can you not sleep at all?

I've been on it for less than 2 months and cant seem to fall asleep without it.

Also, have you ever felt any muscle twitches in your body while on Olanzapine? for the past week my muscles have been twitching after I went from 10mg to 7.5mg.
