Seasonal Allergy symptoms?

I have had these symptoms for about a month and all doctors can come up with is "Anxiety". I've never had anxiety before, I can't think of anything that would be causing it, and frankly I think they're wrong. I was wondering if the symptoms can be caused by seasonal allergies. I have a tight throat, a dry nose that feels swollen (Making it difficult to breathe through my nose), and a hard time taking a deep breath. I'm not sure if allergy season is just really kicking my butt this year or if it's something to be concerned about. If it is allergies can I jus take some Zyrtec or will I need prescription medication? Thanks for your help.

Hi there
So sorry your doctor's fobbing you off. It's not personal, they treat lots of people (especially women) like this.
Where abouts are you? Different countries have different protocols etc. And what type of doctor was it, a GP, an allergy specialist etc? I can advise when I know a bit more.
I suggest keeping a journal, writing everything down. Everything. Where you went, what rooms you went in, who you saw (you are exposed to their products too etc) what you eat, consume, what products you use, etc etc. Hopefully you'll find a correlation.
If it's hayfever etc, there are things you can do. But it's definitely best to have a diagnoses first. Allergy testing is the way. For airborne exposures it's Prick tests. For other exposures it's either prick tests or patch testing. (Don't be fobbed off with blood tests, they're notoriously inaccurate. False positives/negatives. Even people with nut anaphylaxis can have a negative result. But also for instance, with a food allergy, one can be allergic to raw carrots but not cooked carrots. Also one can be allergic to the proteins released when digesting a food, there is no test for this.)
hope any of this helps.
God bless

It was ER doctors who first gave me the diagnosis of anxiety after all my tests came back normal. A blood test and urine test, as well as a thrat and chest xray and ekg. I am making an appointment with my GP this week. I am in upstate new york and it has been very dry here for a while. We are nearly into a drought. I can understand why they thought it was anxiety but I'm not convinced. I hope my GP can give me a bit more to work off of.

Ps I've seen lots of people posting variants of this
"Hi for anyone that suffers really bad with hayfever! I saw something on the tv and advised my daughter to try it and it worked as she suffers really badly! Its simply grapefruit juice mixed with pineapple juice! xx "
Be careful with prescription medications tho as you can't take grapefruit juice with some.
