Sharp bowel pains during menstruation?

Posted , 1 user is following.

Hi towards the end of my periods I would get terrible pains in my bowel - only during my period - the condition has stopped now as I am menopausal and taking HRT. However it is a concern that my 15 year old daughter has also experienced this the last few periods - there is very little info on this condition despite trying many sources.

It is sharp enough to stop her dead in her tracks, once gone (after a few seconds) she is perfectly ok.

Has anyone experienced or heard of anything similar?

Thank yousmile

Hi, I've had that before. I think since everything is so close together. When the uterus contracts at the end of the periods to expel the last of it. It presses on the colon. They stinks that it's so painful for your daughter.

However. You said you're menopausal. Do you mind my asking your age. Only asking because my aunt and my best friends aunt were menopausal and taking HRT when they developed breast cancer. The estrogen they give you during HRT can be very serious. My aunt and her aunt were in their late 50's

Just a caution to be be aware of so you stay safe and healthy.

Hi Tricia - thank you re the info for my girlsmile

I am 54, and yes I have done so much research into HRT and very aware of the reported possible risks associated with breat cancer.

Here in Australia we have 2 of the most advanced menopause centres who have assured us there are safe ways for most of us to use HRT. Common scares from previous decades have been somewhat put to rest which is great as it affects so many ladies.

I simply could not go on just 'exisisting' and HRT has brought me back to life.
