So Confused with a diagnosis of Eustation Tube Dysfunction

Posted , 7 users are following.

My GP can tell my eustation tubes are not opening up all the way. My ears frequently feel full. Apparently it is confirmed I retain water behind my ears. (MRI) But after 3-4 ENTS specialists I've been told everything from TMJ dysfunction to allergies to Ménière's. I've been been given a referral for tubes, I've been told I don't need tubes. The fullness affects my vestibular system, leaving me dizzy. Where do I go next??

He watched the inside of my ear with some sort of scope, while I held my nose and blew until my ears cleared. Othe ENT's have done this as well and don't comment on th ETD.

Oh Betty I so empathise with you! I'm in the same boat as you! I've seen three ENT consultants on a private as well as on the NHS basis all giving me three different diagnosies from menniers to fluid trapped inside inner ear to migrane! I've tried various meds nasal sprays blowing nose exercise antihistamines and changes in diet! But my ear still feels full of pressure with a loud humming noise and all the symptoms that go with that.

It's been going on for a year now on and off (more on than off! ).

I'm fed up miserable and frustrated! Thinking it may be ETD now but no one seems to know or how to relieve me from this misery. ...

I sadly have the same , now for 28 years and it is beyond depressing.  I have had tubes in my ears which gave me relief for a while but back to the same old and now 2 doctors tell me it is just because I have hearing loss.  The pressure in the ears, the cracking and popping, the hearing my own voice in my head.  And once in a great while I can get the left to open and hear normal but it closes again.  I am told my tubes are working properly and no fluid.  I am beyond crushed and just recently they have started to ring.

I have been like this for a few month, still waiting on ENT apt, yesterday i took a heavy cold and it seems to have settled my ears , i wonder why ?plus what causes the tubes to stop working x

I have a possible option , I do have TMJ not sure if anyone else has it but just researching it last night find out that hearing loss, fullness and clicking can be from this.  I will keep everyone updated as I know more and if I can get help for this as well.

I was told that as well. For me the treatment was $10,000.00. After $5,000 spent and no improvement for me, I stopped the treatment. You might get a free consultation with an orthodontist about your jaw, TMJ joint etc. TMJ is another tricky and complex issue.

There is only one person doing this treatment , it has helped hundreds of people and at this point I am going to do it as I really believe it  is from my TMJ.  Actually the reasearh I have done so far is that orthodontists can cause TMJ and I had braces and dental work and I know my bite was thrown off by a dentist that refused to fix it and none will since that time.  They really don't know much about bite causing issues.

Good luck, I hope it works for you. If you are talking about middle TN, that's who I went to.

I'm in the same boat. I was even told shingles!! It's been almost 5 months. The pain is really bad tonight. I see my 5th ENT next week. I'm leaning towards holistic approach via a chiropractor and supplements. I was told the only doctor that would do the balloon treatment is in Boston!!' Any suggestions?
