sore down below!

Hi.

I've had a sore vagina for 4 months now. I was having a lot of a thrush at one stage but it was going with treatment. But now I am in so much pain every day. It generally feels worse when I'm at work cos I'm moving about a lot. I have been to the doctors and she has confirmed it isn't thrush and I have also been to a sexual health clinic and I am clear of any std's and she also told me it wasn't thrush but gave me a week of thrush tablets to take which did nothing. She gave me aqueous cream and said I may just be dry. This burns when I put it on. I'm having white discharge every day and there's a fair bit. And it is very itchy. The only thing that seems to soothe it is warm baths. Any tips? It's making my life so miserable right now!

When you have baths/showers do you use heavily perfumed products? Those can occasionally cause vaginal problems. Also cotton underwear is meant to really help also. I know how you are feeling, I've suffered with thrush before and at some times its unbearable!

Thanks for your reply. Sometimes I just soak in water with no bath products cos I dread it will make it worse and been washing with aqueous cream. The doctor gave me some different kind of canastan cream and I haven't took it until today as she told me it wasn't thrush but I tried it today and it soothed it quite a bit! I'm back at the doctors again tomorrow I'm convinced it's just bad thrush!

I have got exactly the same thing. It's not itchy for me. It's just constant burning sensation. In the morning, it's not bad. But from lunch time, it get worse and worse. I started to wonder whether it is Yeast Infection. I have tried everything. I even changed my diet - no carbohydrate. But nothing seems to work. One of my doc friend suggested me to use Canasten for 6 days rather than 1 day. I tried that as well. It did make my systoms go away. But I still feel burning down below from time to time after a week. But not as bad as before. My friend asked me to do another 6 days to totally get rid of it. But I am worried about the side effect. I am going to see specialist today and will ask her whether I can use the pessary for 6 days in a roll. I will let you know.

Thanks. Yeah mine feels as if it's gone in a morning and a weekend when I'm not doing much and gets more and more agrivated at work and I'm on my feet quite a lot too! I had the pessaries for a week but they didn't dissolve properly I feel like I live at the docs! My appointment is at 4 I'll tell you what she thinks of this time!

Hello.... That happened to me too before. Canasten does a soft gel pessary now. I found that is much easier to get dissolved. But it is more expensive. Good luck to both of us.

Hey. The doctor has gave me 6 months treatment of tablets! I've got 2 creams of canasten with steroid in also. I have to go back in a month if it doesn't work but fingers crossed!

I saw a specialist yesterday. He didn't even do any test. He just had a look and said it's not thrush. He thinks it's BV. But how can he be sure? Anyway, he prescibed me vagina antibacteria cream and also some steroid cream too. Why can't they run some test and be sure what it is first. But my period just came. So I will wait until it's gone and use the cream. Fingers and toes crossed for both of us. Let me know how you are getting on hun. xx

Well I've been on the treatment for 3 weeks. It's a little better but I'm still sore and having discharge! I'll be going back in a few weeks if it isn't any better. Just feel like I'm getting nowhere!

I am so sorry to hear this hun... Are you in the UK? If so, I suggest you to ask your GP to refer you to a specialist/consultant. If it is thrush, the medication should work by now... I think you need a proper checking to make sure what it is...

I have been lucky that i think my specialist was right. After using the antibiotic, my symtoms are all gone. It's been 2 weeks without medication and symtoms. I hope it won't come back.

Another thing I recommend you to try is sea salt water. Wash and soak your bottom twice a week in sea salt water. 20 minutes each time. I have been doing this since I stopped antibiotic. I heard a lot of good thing about this.

I hope you will get better soon. Do let me know. I will pray for you. xxx

Yeah I'm in the UK. I'm gona give the tablets about 3 weeks and then go back and then I've give it enough time.

I was unsure if it was thrush but when I slept with my partner he ended up getting thrush too but when you get a thrush tablet over the counter they are 500mg these are only 150mg, I take one a week. I just don't know if they are strong enough to get rid of the infection. Yeah salt baths have helped in the past. I've heard you shouldn't sit in baths when you have thrush but the hot water seems to soothe it a bit. I feel a little better after a bath than I would a shower.

      I'm glad you got sorted!

I've been back to the doctors in agony, she told me to go back in a month if i was still in pain and she's left! Saw someone else and just had the same done. Examined and drilled back into me that it's thrush even though I said I don't think it is anymore! She said finish the other 5 month of treatment and go back then. I'm at my wits end!

Oh no.... They don't have a clue what we are going through... unfortunately, my problem came back 2 days ago. Exactly one month after my antibiotics. I feel hopeless!!!

I am trying to make another appointment with the consultant. But he can only see me in May... I am thinking to go private. At least they can see me straight away and get me checked...

I don't feel extremely uncomfortable. But still itchy down there and also have 2 blisters.sad

Let's try to be positive lou101... I hope we both can go through this eventually. xxx
