Starting on 10mg escitalopram, worried about possible side effects

Posted , 5 users are following.

I've been prescribed escitalopram by a specialist in relation to having a stroke. I'm already on clopidogrel and atorvastatin daily, would there be any possible side affects in taking with this combination?

Plus I see various cases of side effects in general, this scares me and I'm not sure whether to start these or not.

I'm on both of the first 2 you mentioned after having 2 TIAS then having a stroke. My doctor did not prescribe the 3rd one you have. I would take most anything to avoid another stroke. I would talk to the doctor and find out what this medicine will treat you for specifically, and what risks there are if you don't take it. take care and God Bless~

Hi there, they recommended since they feel I have high anxiety and signs of depression. I've had this anxiety since I was an late teenager. I will definitely ask about the risks for sure as they seem keen for me to start this.

Hi there's a good website where you can check drugs interactions against one another. It's Drugs.com Go to the interactions section and enter the drugs you're interested in , all wi!l be explained there . it's also advised to seek doctor's opinion but this might help in the meantime

Thank you, I checked out Drugs.com interaction checker and found it quite useful and used it to check a bunch of other interactions too, very handy tool!

Hi I just had a look, there's a moderate interaction reported between escitalopram and clopidogrel involving an increased risk of bleeding, full details are explained on the interactions checker page. Wise to check these things!

Hi.I'm on Coolidge and atorvastatin for life aswel as meds for for depression and I was worried about interactions with my meds but with any meds there is always a risk with side effects.I'm sure you're doc wouldn't have prescribed you with escitalopram knowing you're already on meds if there was a risk with combination. But what I did was Google each meds and see the ingredients and check to see if any interact or cancel each other out.If in doubt explain your worries to your doctor.Take care.Elaine.
