Statins and stomach cramps .

Hi I'm new to this forum so i hope I am in the right place.

After a blood test in October 2022 my Dr suggested I started taking one Altorvastatin 25mg daily due to raised cholesterol levels. I took these for 4 weeks but had to stop because of unbearable excruciating stomach cramps at night that meant I didn't get a minutes sleep until I stopped them .

One year on and my Dr has suggested I try one Rosuvostatin 5mg daily this I have done for 3 weeks but I have now stopped them due to the reappearance of the excruciating stomach cramps . Although my Dr has said there are other statins it has become quite obvious I have an intolerance towards statins and I am against trying others .

There is other medication available but that would have to be sanctioned by the hospital .

I would be interested to hear of others who could share their experiences .
