Temporary Colostomy for Anal Fistula

Hi, has anyone ever had a temporary colostomy for an anal fistula? I am scheduled to have this surgery in a couple of weeks. I have had 4 failed surgeries and CRS is hoping a temporary colostomy will work as it will give the fistula a chance to heal from surgery that i will have as well at the same time as colostomy . The plan is 6 months and then reversal. Also i don't have crohns disease. I am absolutely terrified and wondering if anyone has gone through this and what they can share with their experience ?
