Trimalleolar Fracture Removal of screws

Posted , 1 user is following.

i sustained a trimalleolar fracture to my right ankle on 26 December and had ORIF surgery done on 3 January. I got the go ahead yesterday to start weight bearing as much as I can bear in the boot for two weeks and then I can start trying to walk without the boot. Apart from the plate and screws on the sides of my ankle, I have two screws going right across the top of the ankle which apparently need to be removed in 6 weeks. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this done and, if so, was it an easy procedure or did it set your recovery back a bit? I am travelling overseas at the beginning of May and I'm really hoping that I'm going to be mobile enough by then!!!
