Upcoming multi-level fusion

58 year old male, at work 4+ years ago, missed last step on ladder, stumbled backward, landing (hard!) on butt. Cracked twenty-year old L-4/5 inter-body cage fusion. Other than this episode, I'd experienced minor back aches but never anything requiring medical attention.

Since Jan 2018, tried ALL non-surgical treatments with no success. I do not use pain relievers other than naproxen & worsening symptoms have me scheduled for an L-5 to T-11 fusion on Mar 23.

I'm now 62, reluctantly retired on disability,6'1", 185, no other underlying conditions.

Feeling a bit scared but damn sure ready as quality of life needs a jump-start.

Has anyone had an experience with a similar procedure? If so, please share your experience...the good...the bad...and the ugly.

In advance, thank you for the input, sincerely appreciated
