Vaginal bleeding (i.e. spotting) before onset of symptoms?

I am a sufferer of chronic BV. I've been getting BV for years several times a year - like 5+ times a year. Every time, I get BV it is preceded by spotting. I told my doctor that this always happens, and she told me it was unrelated to the BV. She suggested that it may be menses that happens to coincide with BV. But I have been on birth control for years, and I never have spotting or a period besides when I have a vaginal infection. I really believe the two are connected. Has anyone ever experienced the same thing?

I literally just posted something about this. I have a cervical polyp that my doctor attributes to the spotting, but I stg it's the BV because I don't bleed at all when I'm ON flagyl.

I have brown, pink, or bright red discharge often. This is a nightmare. I don't know why this is the case.
