visiting dentist as a TN patient

I needed a root canal treatment in one of my bottom right molars. I told the dentist at the initial consultation that I had TN, and my upper teeth on the right side can trigger it - if they are "exposed" to air too long, if one of those machines they use blow on them etc etc. He tried to do the root canal but when he reached the nerves it was incredibly painful and he wasn't able to finish it, instead he just did a pulpotomy. But he said that it was painful because I have TN. Kind of putting all the blame on my condition and not of potentially being misdiagnosed and the nerves in my tooth were very much healthy and alive - initially he said my tooth pain was due to the nerves dying so the rct should be relatively pain free. Has anyone been told by a dentist that any dental surgery is going to be more painful for them because of their TN?
