Weirdest constipation ever. WHATS GOING ON !

Hi all

Thanks in advance for your responses. I am perplexed and miserable.

Here it is:

49yo female

Normal digestion and elimination my whole life

I eat clean, exercise, and get lots of fruits veggies and water

3 months ago i simply quit pooping

I can get some flat ribbon stools with heavy laxative use

I do feel my muscles trying to make it happen

I have had norml ct

Normal colonoscopy

And an upper gi thing where i drank barium and they watched it go. Doc says this was extremely slow, but the radiologist said everything went at a normal pace until it reached the huge mass of stool it couldnt get around.

I ran clear for colonoscopy prep but was constipated immediately following procedure

Every new thing i try to make it move works about one time.

Currently i take 3 24mg amitiza

1 gallon water with 6 servings miralax

Ducolax at night

Saltwater flush doesnt work

Magnesium citrate has limited impact

With this concoction i still require an enema to move

For someone that just started taking laxatives it seems like my stool should be liquid. What i do get out is a soft but solid flat ribbon

I bought something called oxycleanse (oxiginating laxative)

This was awesome .... It worked one time and is now innefective too.

Doc cant figure out.

Any ideas

Anyone else have this issue

Thanks for your input

Stacey

Hi. .I have had the same sort of thing.I went from normal Bowel mvts to slow transit constipation. I think the block is at the top of my colon. But results are normal except for gastritis & I had H Pylori.

I have been put on Resiloe & bisocodyl after having loads of tests & investigations. I would expect it to turn to diarrhoea with all the laxatives but it doesn't.

      Hi patricia,

I think its so weird to pull all that water into our bowels and have no result

The best i can figure is that our bodies reabsorb the liquid if it hangs out too long...

      I dont know.

Im sorry to hear you are going through this too. I am going to try the tea that mini posted about

Good luck to both of us

I will let you know how I get on. I was quite upset as I was going to ask the specialist nurse for advice on diet and she told me there was no point!!

I sort of know that anyway but still keep trying different things to see.

I have tried so many different things now !

I hear you about the diet Patricia

This problem is WAY beyond what can be managed with diet. I already eat well and i seriously drink about a gallon of water a day.

My gastro actually told me to cut back on fiber since i cant move things. He said if you eat too much fiber and dont move it, it just ends up turning to cement in there.

Im going to try and drop by the herbalist this weekend

      Hi

Yes I have been told the same about Fibre. But I am looking into The Clean Program which is a bit more than diet as I have been told by lots of people to cut out wheat dairy gluten. So I am trying this now as the only option for me is to have the bowel taken out. But I am sort of managing with everything they have put in place but would be great if I could help it with the clean program. It is taking me ages to get my head round it to try to simplify it for myself.

But it is mainly salads and roasted vegetables with chicken or fish so sounds really simple! !

    Hi Stacey and Patricia,

Me too - same thing. just in the last 6 months. Normal CT Scan Normal COlonoscopy. Doctor keeps telling me to use laxitives and that he doesn't know what causes this. I am 48 years old. Doctor doesn't act worried. But last I knew - if you couldn't go to the bathroom that was a big deal. Now I just look online for others who have the same thing just so I can relate to someone.

    Hello there ladiesĀ

i hope that you are getting along well with whatever treatment that you have chosen to use. It's really sad that my previous posts have been deemed as spam/advertising? When I was only giving advise based on what I have used and what has worked for me after suffering for years and years.I gain absolutely nothing from telling you about my experiences except the hope that it works for you too and hoping that what worked for me may work for you too. Good luck all
