Hi Ive been on Amitryptyline 20 mg for about 15 years and was told by GP to try stopping it. I tapered for 2 weeks and have been stopped for 3 weeks but still feeling nausea, lightheaded and dizzy every day how much longer will it take to wear off?

I've been on Amitriptyline for nearly 2 yrs' and have been tapering 2.5mg every 3-4 weeks' since December.

I was told to take it super slowly to avoid any withdrawal and to give my body time to adjust to the lower dosage.

Withdrawal is different for different people; some get awful symptoms and other people none at all.

GP advice seems to differ greatly.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

good luck with your tapering. You're right about GP advice, my GP said you'd expect that starting the drug but not coming offf??

Hopefully it will gradually wear off and my mind and body will adjust,
