Hi, I've recently been diagnosed with BIH and have suffered optic nerve damage. Was put on Acetazolamide and experienced tingloing side affects but was to scared to come off them because i didn't want to have to keep going through with LP. I'mno longer taking meds as I've found out i'm expecting my first child and am worried how this might affect my pregnancy has anybody got any help or advice.

hi, i also have the same condition and have a 14 month old baby.i was very worried throughout my pregnancy and the maternity department kept a closer eye on me.

everything was fine and i had a c section due as if i had gone through labour it was likely to increase the pressure.

i can really understand how you feel and hopefully my post will help you.x smile

[b:9e52357e6d] : you have nothing nothing to worry about, i was diagnosed over four yrs ago the medication was causing me problems, i could not tastes my food or anything else for that matter, so i told the Doctors i did not want it again my eyes are still 20/20 thank god, i do not suffer from headaches except when i PMS ...smile...my skin was starting to change color with some white patches on my forehead (i am black) so i stopped the diamox and the other meds and one year after i found out i was pregnant and they place me in a special clinic and 2 years later i have a very beautiful, healthy, very smart and intelligent 2 year old who mocks me and calls me aunty and laughs when i tell her i am not her aunt and then she says mummy. So do not worry and trust in god because i did and everything turn out great. GOD BLESS AND ENJOY MOTHERHOOD[/b:9e52357e6d]

Hi there, i am 30yrs old live in Australia and was diagnosed with BIH when i was 18. I had lumbar punctures every 12 months with 6 months of diamox in between. I feel pregnant with my first baby at 26 and all symptoms stopped no treatment needed at all until after he was 2 then symptoms began to come back. They were tolerable for about 2 months when i had another LP. Then i was pretty much symptom free again until my second son was born. He was delivered via c-section just as my first was but this time my severe headaches returned the instant they lifted him out. I saw my neuro yesterday and am back on the diamox, the side effects are annoying but worth it in the long run. if you are having symptoms still it is safe to have a LP these usually relieve symptoms for a while and if your lucky as i was they might go away throughout your entire pregnancy so you dont need meds til baby has safely arrived. Hope this has helped, i know it sucks to be us sometimes but it could be worse.
