l had mine some 27 years ago - one of the most painful experiences l've ever had as l had no anethesia !
Went back to work straight away and was back running 2 days later - it healed very quickly and didn't require a bandage the next day - however everyone is different and maybe young people heal quicker ( was only 30 back then )
cheers
Paul

A bandage seems extreme to me, I only ever get an adhesive dressing! The advise is always the same, to try and keep it dry for two or three days and provided that there is no infection then that is it. The time to fully healed, i.e. skin grown back and scar fading, is dependent on the individual and you may get nerve regeneration twinges for some time but three days should see you back to normal activities, but do take care.

Hi Chris thanks for your response. They told me to keep the dressing on for 24-48 hours. I took it off after 48 hours. I showered and it seems fine. Interesting about regeneration twinges. Don't think I've had that but good to know. It's really all about fear of the unknown. Glad you're all here to answer questions, it helps so much. Zap

When I had mine, which I believe my Heamotologist order way too early on, I didn't have an aneasthetic. It hurt, but it healed like a normal scab would do.
It bled for longer than a normal wound would do, ie hours, rather than minutes.
I tried not to sleep, lean on it during first few days. Or to get it wet in bath/ shower.
But once the scab had scabbed over properly and was completely dry it was like a normal scab.
