chronic dyspepsia - share exp

I was experiencing excrutiating pain in stomach and upper back after taking ibroprofen sort of a gripping experience. my dr presribed 40mg daily of omeprozol. At first it helped the symptoms only to find the next day i am back to square one as above and it kind of repeats this cycle.

I have a spell where it is normal for a few days and I have renewed hope only to wake up the next day as tho' it was the start of the pain all over again.

I have had the scope and scans and they have diagnosed chronic dyspepsia. The night is worse waking 4/5 times a night to swallow gaviscon. I dont have reflux just that gnawing pain.

Eating does sometimes help but not always and it is really affecting my quality of life.

Can anybody share a similar exp of offer any advice on managing this?

Has anyone tried a differnt sort of medication?

    This isn't my experience....

Many years ago my father crushed a disk in his back and (undiagnosed) was told to take 2 200mg ibroprofens when in pain.....

After 7 doses in less than 12 hours (yes i know its stupid but he had taken 14 200mg ibroprofens in 12 hours.... but the tablets said on the box from the pharmacy as per the docotrs note take 2 when in pain - this was the late 80's early 90's....) he was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with a severe stomach ulser (known side effect of ibroprofen)...

Maybe worth going back to the doctor and getting them to look at your issue in a bit more detail m russell as ibroprofen can do really nasty things to the stomach especially if not taken with food....

Just for information, my Doctor informed me, when he gave me Omeprazole, not to use Asprin or Ibuprofen at all.

Only use paracetemol, see if that helps.
