Undiagnosed right back flank pain

I have had pain in my right back flank area for several months now, with no diagnosis. It started by only hurting when i bent over to the floor to pick up something, but it was very painful. This has gone on for about a year. Over last 6 months its become more often and more painful. Now it affects almost every minute of my life. Hurts when sitting, standing, laying. Almost all the time. Sometimes sharp severe deep pain and sometimes just a heavyness in my right side and somtimes low grade fever & chills. I've been to regular doctor, urologist, gastro doc, and back specialist. I've had a colonoscopy with upper GI done, HIDA scan for gall bladder, urine tests, blood work, xrays, CT scan with contrast, ultrasound, Meds for kidney stones and shingles, and of course, pain meds. Everything has come back negative.

Just had MRI done last week, doc visit tomorrow to find out. Will keep you posted.

Have you tried a Chiropractor, as it sounds more like a muscular problem?

So, MRI showed 5 bulging discs. Doc also ordered a blood culture test. Gave me a muscle relaxer prescription. Feels better. Getting an appointment with a different back doctor.

It sounds like you've been through the ringer with all those tests. I'm kind of surprised the back specialist that you saw did not do an MRI after consulting with you. I don't know what kind of specialist he was other than a "back specialist" but I'm glad to hear you got an MRI and that you're going to get the results tomorrow. Just remember not to be disappointed if by chance they don't see anything on the MRI either. Sometimes that happens and it can be very frustrating to not have physical proof of why you hurt. I suggest you try a few things to help with the pain. Physical therapy is the very first thing you should try and acupuncture works for lot of people. Then there are non-narcotic things you can take for the pain. But since I don't know where you live I don't know if they're legal in your area so you don't want to check that out first. CBD oil made from hemp provides relief to some people and kratom also works for some people. You can Google these two things and learn more about them. BTW has any one of these doctors done any blood tests on you? You might ask if anyone did a blood test to check for inflammation. The the names of the two is sed rate and C-reactive protein. I don't think these two are included on a normal CBC blood test, I'm pretty sure your doctor has to request them separately. I hope that you find out what's wrong on the MRI and even more importantly that it is fixable.

It is amazing that no one picked up on this before. I have one bulging disc and one compression fracture in my lumbar spine. I am using CBD oil with good  effect, but I still get some pain. My Chiropractor keeps me going, don't have much faith in Physiotherapists. You will need some work on the muscles, as these tighten up when the shape of the spine alters somewhat. Hope you get some relief.
