Covid vaccine and steroids

Posted , 1 user is following.

I received my second Covid vaccine on February 8th. Two hours prior to that, I received a steroid injection in my elbow. My doctor says I should consider getting the booster since the steroid may have rendered the vaccine ineffective. I can't find any definitive information on whether or not that is true. I'm 68 with no co- morbidities, but autoimmune disease. I don't want to take the booster shot if it is unnecessary. Any thoughts?

I just received my booster shot today. I am on steroids daily for adrenal failure and a host of autoimmune conditions as a result of Immunotherapy for cancer. I think I would get the booster. It has been reported that autoimmune pts have more serious disease if they contract Covid. I think everyone will be getting boosters anyway. Just make sure its been 4 weeks since you dont know if it worked or not.

I hope you will report back as to any side effects you had from the booster. Which vaccine did you originally get? The pharmacist I spoke to today said the side effects should be no more severe than the previous injections caused. I would think the side effects would be a little worse if you have some antibodies. This will be my third Moderna vaccination. Best of luck.
