Dissilusioned with NHS pain traetment

i suffer with chrnic pain, apparently stemming from my lower back. everything below the waist is screaming at me. i have been to pain clinic, had hypnosis, acupuncture all with no relief. on ever increasing types of painkillers, which make me feel really bad. i speak to my doctor who says i dont think we can do anymore. it ahs taken over my life, i live alone and i cant manage, spend most of my time laying down trying to get to sleep. what can i do. I AM REALLY DESPERATE

    You dont mention your age and how long you have had the pain......have you had xrays? The reason I ask your age is perhaps you may need a hip replacement.....or you may have something going on in your lower spinal area as you mention the pain us from the waist down...

    Hi, it sounds as though you have tried all the usual channels and not got anywhere. Is it possible for you to go to a one off private consultation? It will cost you but it may well be worth it in the end. Dependent on your age, if nothing can be done to alleviate the pain, you could perhaps be a candidate for a back operation. This is only done when all other options fail and you are otherwise fit (and young) enough.

    i am 68 and 3/4. i cannot afford to go private. had teh pain for 5 years, although i have had lymphodeama since 1999. i have had MRI am told it is mechanicl  pain from back????????????

    Hiya I feel for you bein in so much pain I slipped a disc 10 years ago and the pain was unbearable I tried tramadol diclafenic gabapentin co codamol I believe gel tens machine and a hot water bottle 24 /7 lying down was not good I had to force myself out of the chair and shuffle down the road takin one day at a time I've just found out from my mri I have a bulging disc in my neck I had to have 12 months physio 2 caudal epidurals and 2 pain management clinics the last one offering me facet injections that I declined I feel I have no support at all
