Dry mouth with Omeprazole

Hi, all.

I've been on a long period of naproxen due to Morton's Neuroma in both my feet. To reduce the risk of stomach problems associated with naproxen, I was prescribed omeprazole.

It's been over three months of omeprazole and naproxen. I have a constant dry mouth, lips and eyes, but the mouth is the worst. I don't seem to produce any saliva whatsoever. I assume the dry mouth is associated with either naproxen or omeprazole. On googling, there are more anecdotal reports of dry mouth with omeprazole, so it may be that.

Fortunately, my feet are better to the point where I can stop taking the naproxen and therefore omeprazole. Is anyone aware of how long it takes to recovery normal salivary function after ceasing omeprazole? I'd rather not stay like this for long, as you might imagine.

Thanks in advance.

I have been on omeprazole for long periods of time due to GERD but I can't say that I experienced dry mouthwhile taking it. Sorry

Be careful taking the O for a long period of time, because when you try to get off, you may experience worse heartburn. Go to the Patients UK forum and look up the thread on the O.

Guess I must be crazy.  This is Patients.  Thought I was still on the Inspire forum. Duh!  So the O thread should be easy to find.
