Esomeprazole

I started taking Lansoprazole about 13 years ago for a duodenal ulcer and have taken PPIs pretty much ever since . Christmas day and Boxing day last year i was in agony with chest pains so thought they are not doing me any good so just stopped them. I had an almost instant relief but then started to suffer heartburn which was less painful but concerning as i thought what is the acid doing to me.

Since then i have started to get indigestion again and have waited for a referral to see a specialist. Eventually i was contacted by phone by a specialist who said because of my quality of life (4 episodes a week lasting up to 2 hours each )i would have an endoscopy within 2 weeks and to start the esomeprazole again before the procedure. (which i didnt do)

I had the endoscopy which showed i have an inflamed oesophagus and my problem is they want me to go back on Esomeprazole so i thought i would try them before i speak my doctor about it. However within a few days of starting them i had an episode which was very painful and i was in agony with chest pain ,i am at the end of my tether i cant go on like this .

I know that theres lots of info on here but i have now got covid to top it all off so havent got the energy to read at the moment.

I am speaking to the doctor tomorrow but am concerned he wont be able to suggest anything else.
