Forearm pain when pruning

Posted , 2 users are following.

I was pruning the smaller limbs under a bush in my yard, and I got a sudden sharp pain in my forearm just above my wrist. It hurt in the muscle and almost like the bone. It does not itch and is not red or swollen but it still hurts like crazy like 4 hours later. Do you thinkI got bit?

If you find the  cutting branches hard you may may be a good idea to purchase Rachet  Pruners where the blades grip onto the wood and does not strain the fingers or wrist, they lock down on the wood and release when the blades cut away the branch.

Lidl sell a good pain and only cost about five pounds, I have had a pair of these for over seven years. I am not sure although Aldi may also sell them as well,

You could try a pair that has a rotating handle that helps with the pressure you apply to the branch, they need more pressure. Mine are quite old now and were made by WilkinsonSword, about twenty five pounds I use them on roses sometimes. Some rachet pruners can be expensive I have a Swiss pair and they are about thirty founds a pair

With having my Orchard I have a grand mixture I have purchased over the last ten year and the cheapest pair above works well on the lower branches. I have loppers  various types for the trees and bushes, on pair with a short handle that has rachet teeth that grips onto the wood, I use them when getting under rose bushes etc. My lopper for the trees some have adjustable handles and others that are side cutters to take down think branches also standard ones about eighteen inches long.

Gardeners seem to pick up a lot of tools they may never use, These tools do not need to be expensive I hope that helps
