Head sensations!

I'm getting so annoyed with these head pains!! I had a ct scan 8 weeks ago and got told I had a bleed on the brain! 2 days later i had an MRI scan..... No bleed, no lesions everything ok. I ended up back in a&e with the worry and head pains a few weeks later..... a different radiologist looked at scans and he said there was nothing on the ct scan of any concern in the first place! I've since had the images put onto a CD and seen a neurologist who confirmed that what was or wasn't seen on the ct scan is nothing of any concern!! So my mind has been well and truly messed up by all this! Every day for 8 weeks I've had weird head pressure/sensations and the odd shooting/electric pains right through my head. It's driving me mad! Also got neck / shoulder aches. I'm constantly pulling at my hair and scratching my head for some relief! I have fibromyalgia and anxiety. I don't know if it's that causing the pain, or stress or the degenerative discs in my spine or if my brain is about to explode! I'm at a complete lose! Any advice greatly appreciated! Doctors haven't a clue either!

    Hi Archie1811

Have you had any blood tests for unflammation ...they are ESR blood test and CRP blood tests if they are elevated then this will determine inflammation someehere in the body and perhaps the brain...also the neck and shoulder pain may be inflammatory...ask your doc to carry out these tests..because you could have a condition called GCA Giant Cell Arteritis which affects the arteries in your head and cause sensitive scalp and head pain..you could gave an autoimmune condition called Polymyalgia Rheumatica associated with neck and shoulder pain which is associated with GCA....GCA can lead to eye problems.....best wishes....

Hi, I will ask about those bloods, thank you. I know I'm negative for rheumatoid factor and FBC was normal. I'm only in my mid 20's so the doctor thinks it's highly unlikely to be GCA but I will ask again. My vit d levels are low so I'm on pills to boost it.

      Hi Archie

What about your CRP?......C-Reactive Protein...?? It has been known for young people to get GCA....just ask him to do a biopsy of the arteries to err on side of caution....best wishes...

He's 99.9% sure it's not GCA but I'm having CRP bloods done tomorrow.

      Hi Archie1811

That's good!..because you don't necessarily have to have a raised ESR...but if CRP is raised even slightly it can indicate inflammation....keep us posted.....
