Heartburn and Palpitations

Over a year ago I was prescribed Naproxen for migraines I get due to my sinuses. I only took Naproxen on a couple of occasions, but stopped due to severe stomach pains. The naproxen has caused permanent damage to my stomach and I now suffer from heart burn, stomach aches, bloating and severe stomach pains. I also have anxiety, the issue I now have with my stomach add to my anxiety. I have had an endoscopy and there is nothing abnormal with my stomach but I have terrible symptoms I find difficult to manage.

I went through a spell of having heart palpitations, went to the doctors and again nothing abnormal with my heart. But I have found them to be a lot worse when I have had trigger foods, especially alcohol. I used to have palpitations daily but was just recently prescribed lansoprazole and magically they seemed to completely stop.

They say there is no association between GERD and heart palpitations but there must be as my heart palpitations have virtually disappeared. I unfortunately am suffering terrible IBS due to the lansoprazole but I'm too scared to stop taking it as I'd rather have IBS than crippling heart palpitations to the point where I think I'm having a heart attack.

Does anybody have an experience with this?

You could try a different PPI medication they are lots of other ones that work just as good as lanzdoprazole

I have hiatus hernia and get terrible heartburn. I get palpitations when I get the heartburn

which I thought odd but looking online it seems other people have also had palpitations

and seems the heartburn can irritate the Vagus nerve which can cause palpitations.

I used to take Lansoprazole but I still got the palpitations. I stopped taking it due to it

giving me high blood pressure and made my anxiety and IBS worse, although I did

find taking peppermint tablets made the IBS better or more bearable so you could

try those and see if they help.

I would go and see your Dr as there are other medications your could take instead

    of the Lansoprazole.
