husband diagnosed a year ago

my husband was diagnosed with pulmonary sarcoidosis stage 1 last July. he presented with a wicked cough and was originally diagnosed with whooping cough. His PFTs were always 100%. he was treated with 50mg of prednisone initially by our GP because the pulmonologist was on vacation. when he got back he said he would not have treated ( the cough was almost gone at that point) but since it was now 6 weeks later he put my husband on a slow wean. he has been off all meds for 4 months.

he has no cough and says he feels good. he says he wouldn't know he had it if it wasn't for the diagnosis.

everything is read about this is so soon and gloom. has anyone gone I to remission. and done well? I am afraid to hope. I know there are no guarantees but could it be gone?

Good morning, I been diagnosed in 1984, with sarcoidosis. After 33 years I'm been healed through the Grace of God. The only medicine that can healed your husband is  "FAITH" letting God take control of his body. If he doesn't have FAITH he will not be healed. Please pray and ask God to touch his body. The key to this is you have to believe that God is in control. By his stripes I shall be heal.

'If he doesn't have faith he will not be healed'.

That seems to me to be a horrible thing to say. And quite dangerous if it prevents somebody from going to a doctor to get proper medication.

I agree (tyagi) wow my mind has just been blown away! That's such a horrible thing to say to someone. I'm a non believer but I don't care or judge to what beliefs in what individuals believe in, beliefs may give you some comfort to some people that this Grace of God will save and protect you good on them but will not rid this horrid disease. Myself I'm a very caring loving person I'm a full time carer for my wife also and the Grace of God didn't help her just saying. I would just say that each to their own whatever gets you through mine was keeping positive, staying active and avoiding the triggers the worst one being Pine trees so I'm very cautious of them especially at Christmas time so we just go with fake trees these days as my wife is a strong believer in the higher power but knows that they make me unwell so doesn't allow in the house, me personally people lose all credibility when Religion or Politics are put into the equation.

Hi Kira. Yes, it's possible that he will only have one bout, which is usually the variety known as Acute Sarcoidosis. Let's hope so! Alternatively, it may lie dormant for a few months/years and reappear. The second is what happened to me. The recurrence happened following flu. So it is worth simply going to the specialist if symptoms appear, to get rapid treatment. Ive had Sarcoid for around 30 years, and with care lead a pretty normal life.

Hi everyone. My husband has had a rough go of it diagnosed about yr ago. God can heal and is a healer. We ask for faith, encouragement, belief. We do all we can to be well trusting God has the final word in every matter of life. Whether one believes now or not doesn't change who he is. I pray for everyone here and my husband to be free from this. But one day at a time. Find the blessing in everyday. Sunshine, a friend, family,a pet, a garden, beach, artwork, a meal. Whatever it is how tiny or big be thankful and it will birth good things in you.

Bless you all. Theres always hope. 🦋

Hi Kira50285, I've been in remission so to speak for near on being 25 years, I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in 1987 at age 21 and was treated for a good 6 years then have been able to live a normal life so far but I must watch my triggers as the steroid/cortizone treatments in the early years has destroyed my immune system somewhat so I always keep positive, stay active as much as I can, watch what I eat in the way of processed foods it's more self awareness management as the common cold can knock me rotten but I'm doing ok apart from aches in joints, sweats and pimple blisters just keeping a positive outlook goes a long way.
