I am 17 and have just been diagnosed with bih in the last month. My GP was useless at spotting it as i'd been going to him for onths with the complaints of my severe headaches and blurred vision. i went down to the opticians and got my eyes tested and they sent me straight to the hospital. i dont think people realise that it is a serious condition that i will probably suffer with for the rest of my life, and the fact that i could have gone blind if i hadn't of followed it up really scared me. i'm just lookin for someone 2 chat too about it because none of my friends and family really understand how i'm feelin and how it affects people.

    I know exactly how you feel, not being able to see is a nightmare. I am 28 years old. I knew something was wrong, was admitted to hospital. To be told it could be a bleed, tumour, or too much pressure on my brain is frightening for anyone. Even looking at the computer screen now is not easy!!

    there is a forum that i've found at iihsupport that is very helpful. I'm not a member of this forum so please put a dot org at the end and the w etc at the beginning

    i have had bih for 8 years now im now 17 and i got told as i grew up it wud get betta but it has only got worse. lukily u will proberly get given a drug called acetazolamide which i took but was majorly allergic too and put me in a coma since then they have tryed so many drugs but nothin has wrked what they are goin to do knwo but im under teh london hospital of nerlogical and nerosugical next to grand ormand street as i was wit them u shud rele try and get with those hospitals they will rele help! my first appointment for the new hospital is friday and im so scared fo wat they mite say as nothin is wrkin and the idea is brain surgery i totally understand none of my friedns understand how hard it to be a teenager and have this aswell! i rele hope things do get srted for u but i ahve neva found any1 with it that can understand how i feel!
