I have 2 family members who are prescibed lansoprazole. They have found it very efective when taking the make Zoton which I understand is the more expensive type. They were recently prescibed the cheaper versions both suffered problems one severe. It seems the cheaper makes of this drug are not as efective as the more expensive Zoton.

I too have been taking Zoton (lansoprazole) and recently was given the cheap generic version, because of the cost, I presume. Previously I've been very well with Zoton. The cheap stuff just makes me worse. I don't know whether to switch drugs because of this.

I to am now having a problem getting Zoton, long live our Government, Ha Ha!!!

Anyway I have tried the cheaper version and they definitely are not the same.

However, I have rung round and found a pharmacy with Zoton - happy days!

My own doctor changed all his Zoton patients - including me - to generic Lanzoprazole (made in Slovenia). I find I have to take twice as much and it still doesn't come up to the effectiveness of Zoton. He insists it is just as good as Zoton - but he doesn't have to take it!

M.B. on this forum says that his doctor says Zoton is no longer available - lies! Insist on Zoton - I did, and he agreed to change me back to Zoton!

I am so pleased I am not the only one, I was on ZotonFasTab Lansoprazole prescribed by the hospital and it helped me tremendously. When I needed a repeat prescription, my own Doctor said they are advised to prescribe the cheaper one which he did and it made all my problems worse and added a few extra ones. I stopped taking it after three weeks as I was better with nothing than something that was making me worse. On returning to my doctor this morning I asked to change back, I was told they were both the same but he relutantly changed me to the more expensive type, I took one tablet and felt an improvement in two hours! Don't let anyone tell you these two versions are the same because they definitely are not. It doesn't matter how cheap it is if it doesn't work its too much money.

i was prescibed lansoprazole about 4 months ago a months supply, they were great,as i had been getting terrible bouts of heartbuen and trapped wind, they worked great and i noticed improvement after about a week, however i did,nt get any more when i finished the course,as i did feel better, however the last 6 weeks or so the heartburn came back,so i asked for another course, which i have been taking for about 2 weeks, and there is no improvement whatsoever,if anything i am worse, its only when reading these comments that i have realised, the first script i had i am nearly sure they were zoton (going to check with the pharmasist tommorrow) its just the name rings a bell, also i am sure the box was definatly blue, the ones i am taking at the minute are distributed by a company called RANBAXY,and are made in barcelona spain,so i am wondering if this is why they are not working, went back to docs today and was told to double up on them and take one twice a day instead of once a day, each capsule is 30mg,since reading the comments about zoton i am hoping this is the problem, but then how do i get the doc to give me the zoton again,i must stress my own doc who i normally see prescribed the first lot which worked(which i am nearly sure were zoton)but the second time i saw another doc,not my usual one whom i trust implicily
