Ibuprofen period pains

My daughter Sarah is 21 years old. She has suffered with bad period pains for years. Her G.P refused to give her anything for the pain as there were remedies you could buy over the counter. Over the years she has tried them all and none gave her much comfort or took the pain away. Ibprofen was the only thing that helped to make the pain bearable. Recently she was rushed into hospital twice with serious stomach pain. doctors came to the conclusion that ibprofen had given her a build up of acid in her stomach. she was taken off all medication and is now at a loss as to what painkillers she can take for period pains. Think we need to change G.P

She has now decided not to take the pill, but her last period was awful - a tampon and a pad couldn't deal with it, and she is getting very embarrassed at school. They also make her do PE even if I send in a note, which I think is awful, I rang the school and all they said was that periods were not an illness and not a reason not to do it!
If anyone can suggest anything I'd be very grateful, as there's no point in going back to our gp is not much help, he also thinks she should just put up with it, and just refers us back to the FPClinic.
Thanks!
