Hello everyone,
I have just come back from the hospital after being diagnosed with BIH and have been given Acetazolamide. I was lucky to have been diagnosed with it after only around 3 weeks it seems but i don't see the neurologist for another 4 weeks now.... so i just had a few questions that some people with experience of it may know.
1. Can you drink alcohol while on Acetazolamide? just curious
2. How long has it taken your eyes to recover, if they have, from double vision?
3. Has anyone else developed this from forms of contraception, other than the pill?
4. Has anyone ever cured it by losing weight?
thanks for any answers/comments this has taken me a loong time to type!

My 15 year old daughter has just been diagnosed like you after 3 weeks
and one of the first things she asked was was it ok to drink and she was told that there was no evidence that it would be bad to do so.
she was also only slightly overweight but in the 3 months she has been taking acetazolamide she has lost one and a half stone and it still has not made any difference.
and it took about 6 weeks for her double vision to go.
I hope you are not suffering to much unlike my daughter she has had a very difficult time coming to terms with the many other symptoms that come with this illness.
All the best and dont drink too much

I just wanted to reply because i have been wondering if the contraceptive injection could have caused this for me. I was on the pill for about 3 years and in november changed to the injection, before that i was absolutely fine. Going to go back on the pill and see if anything changes. Whats your experience and do you mind me asking what contraception you use?
I will be angry if this caused it as i was never told this.
Also have you experienced any pain from taking the medication? as has it completely got rid of the headaches? think im being put on it this week.
