Just started Lansoprazole...

Well, I've recently had a hospital admission following pains in my stomach that came on early evening (I attributed this to bad indigestion or heartburn) and got progressively worse during the night accomanied with vomiting bile (alot! lol). Its the first time I've had one of these attacks so my partner called the emergency doc, who called for a ambulance. Whilst in hosp, my bp dropped dramatically, they got it back up, pumping fluids through. An ultrasound showed thickening of the stomach wall, which is being attributed to Diclofenac use for 8months. I am being sent for a endo/gastroscopy with biopsies of my stomach as an urgent o/p as am now home. I have been told not to take the diclofenac or some antibiotics I was on and am now taking para's and codine instead. I have been put onto 30mg Lansoprazole twice daily. Its only been a couple of days since the 'attack' but I still feel so weak and have to lay down alot. Its amazing what NSAIDs can do to your stomach! If it is the diclofenac that has caused this... any ideas?

    Hi there,

I'm also having reflux problems from NSAI's and am about to start my second course of lans.

Can anyone who's suffered this problem please please tell us how long it took you to get better?

    Hi

I hadn't realised that diclofenac was a NSAIDs. I take a different NSAIDs and I too have got stomach problems. I have been on and off Lansoprazole for the last year and on top of that I am in pain as my Gp won't prescribe another pain killer at the moment due to my stomach. Good old paracetamol is all I use at the moment.

I new they caused stomach problems, but i thought it wouldn't happen to me.

I'm not sure it ever gets completley better. It just takes one little thing to start mine off again. Ok for about 3 months then its back.

The endo/gastroscopy is not too bad.

    Lizzy
