Hi. Is anyone taking Lansoprazole 30mg twice daily. I have just been increased to this and wondered if anyone finds it helps with acid problems? Thanks

I have been given the same dose - unfortunately I have not found much relieve. Still have heartburn. Doctor now added Raniditine 300mg for the night - but still not 100%. I feel reflux every day...how are you getting on?

specialist put me on 45mg daily. I now take only 30mg daily. You dont say why you are taking it but there are other ways to deal with reflux. when i have a bad attack of reflux witch can cause heart attack like symptoms then i go to the fridge and drink at least to pints of milk and this will stop it dead in its tracks. to manage day to day reflux you can take Sodium Bicarbonate which will nutrallise stomach acid. I plan to start taking Sodium Bicarbonate and stop using Lansoprazole because it was never meant for long term use. If you can find a long term use study on this drug of over 1 year please send it to me. I think the fact that there are no long term studys of this drug should raise a red flag. When you reduce acid production over a 24hr period as this drug does means any food you eat cannot be digested properly. If you take vitamins and mineral supplements this will interfer with them to.In short this drug is effective in stopping acid prodution which it was designed to do but having taking this drug for many years i realises time to take a different approch to my problem because itsa plaster that stops acid but does not resolve the problem.

The results were a concern for me as i had symptoms of severe diarreah with blood.
At first I didn't connect the lansoprazole with the symptoms, and I was booked in for a colonoscopy because of the blood loss. a real worrying time.
But I ran out of the Lansoprazole and a few days later the syptoms cleared up.. I am now trying Ranitidine ....
As for the acid reflux it cleared up straight away...

I have just replied to your other post just now. Thanks for replying and for the information. So you are feeling ok and the acid has cleared up even after giving up taking Lansoprazole?
Thanks,
Amanda.

Hi Amanda,
I am new to this forum and I am not sure if you still come on here but I was curious to know how long you stayed on 60mg and if it worked.
I have very bad acid reflux for over a year. Stress has been my trigger but the presence of acid reflux has made my life more stressful. I am good with my diet in that I stay away from trigger foods as much as possible.
My doctor prescribed 60mg about a year ago and said I could take the 60mg when the reflux was particularly bad. I dont like taking such a high dosage for too many weeks, so I only take it for a week or 2 at a time until the acid reflux calms down a bit. Unfortunately, 30mg doesn't seem to give me much relief but I try to stay on just 30mg because I dont like taking such a high dosage (60 mg) for a long period.
I am just wondering if I took 60mg for a couple of months continually maybe it would clear the acid reflux once and for all. As it is, I take it for a max of 2 weeks and then go back to 30mg.
I am really at my wits end trying to get rid of reflux, some days I have burning all day.
If anyone has experience of taking 60mg of Lansoprazole, I would appreciate hearing about it.
Thanks,
Catherine

I just started taking this type of ppi for my internal bleeding i throw up blood after being wasted i also have fatty liver and GERD. My doctor explains that this could not be a quick solution for heartburn. It is best use for ulcer, and esopag*#& erosion(which i suffer).
