Lansoprazole and toe joint pain and sores

I've been taking lansoprazole for three years. 30mg/ day until a few months ago, now 15 mg. For over a year I have had sores on the joints on my toes persisting, initially caused I thought by too tight shoes, My podiatrist says they are the joints, the bone ? swelling. I have only now heard from a friend, who has bad arthritis in back, that ppis can cause joint pain. There is now a swelling, a hard small very painful bump on side of little toe that hurts even without wearing footwear. The GP says it's a bone spur. Could long term lansoprazole useage be causing this?
