Low iron but high RBC ??

I write a while back with possible pv diagnosis, my question is can you have low iron (36) and high hemoglobin hemocrit at the same time? I have symptoms of daily fatigue, so I asked for a iron test which doc said you are def not anemic with red blood cell value like that. I then went back and looked at old blood work and showed that my iron is at the lowest end of range, so am I technically anemic??

Quite frankly, I feel that the sooner you get your haematologists analysis you will find the answers to your queries.  So much depends on this for you to receive the best treatment for your condition.  Low iron readings are often the norm with PV but of course these can differ, also the fatigue and anaemia too.  The correct treatment will control these but it will take a little time for the information to be collated.

Low iron has many different causes related to differing medical conditions.  Iron deficiency can be caused by blood loss or poor diet.  Too much or too little can pose separate problems and this is why you need a proper medical analysis.  It is often associated with anaemia.  You have touched upon a complex subject which is best explained by a doctor.  I can but generalise with the knowledge I have accrued from my time with PV etc but this is incompatible with the professional answers you seek for your symptoms.  Maybe another patient could more fully deal with your query but if I were you I would take the questions directly to the experts.  Hope you acquire the answers you need soon.  Good luck.
