MCAS tests

I believe I may have MCAS in addition to ME/CFS.
What is the routine procedure for testing in the UK ? Do I need a referral to a specialist, and if so, which field of medicine is most appropriate ?

Hi Alexi,
I was recently diagnosed after testing in the US. I told my GP (general practitioner) I knew I had some sort of histamine issue, that I was having and allergic-type response to foods I am not allergic to.
She sent me to an Immunologist, where I asked her if I had histamine intolerance or some type of mast cell issue. She did blood testing for common allergans (RAST and ImmunoCPA: environment, foods, chemicals), 24 urine methyl-histamine , prostaglandin D2, serum tryptase, CBC with diff.
They want to rule out other possible causes too, before diagnosing you with MCAD, so please bear with them and look at the tests as a free way to do a general check up on yourself. This part can be frustrating, but helps identify differential diagnoses, etc.
Google " Mast cell mediators: Recommended testing for MCAS diagnosis Mast Attack " for the complete list of tests.

ImmunoCAP is the correct name of the allergan test.

Hi Alexi,
I also have ME and think I have MCAS. I joined this group to find out more about it. Are you going to be tested? I'm in the UK too.
