Monthly foot pain

So about every month (sometimes more) I get a day where my foot will really hurt. It's typically at night (though there have been 2 occasions where it's been all day, which sucks). It's happened since I was around 10 (6 years ago). I'm also heavy footed. It's usually only on one foot and it gets worse if it gets cold (I have been known to put my feet on the radiator when it happens).
Right now it's been hurting for about an hour and it's surprisingly both feet. It's not around the toes it's like the middle of the sides where both feet can meet (if that makes any sense). It's also like a burning feeling (irritating like all the other times).
I just wish it would stop. I've searched on the Internet and came up empty handed so I turn to a forum. Does anyone know why it happens and how to stop it (emphasis on the second one).

You may have a problem with the tendons in your feet. You should go to your doc and ask to be referred to a foot and ankle specialist at the orthopaedic clinic at your local hospital where they will do a ct scan or xray or both of your feet....you should not leave it go because you are young and it could affect your feet in later life...best wishes.....

Thanks for your reply and I should be going to the orthopaedic clinic that's local to me again soon (because I'm wearing through my insoles after a few years ??) so may mention it to them then. Only problem is that they are a pain to get back referred to (have to go through the doctors surgery and then get referred through them, or at least according to my mum, which is why it takes my persuasion to get her to do it all). I mentioned it to my family before but they just said it was growing pains (which it can't be now cause my feet stopped growing). One thing I forgot to mention is that it tends to go when I wake up in the morning.
What tends to happen after CT scan/X-Ray?
Thanks

Hi Evamore
What you are expriencing is not there in the morning because you haven't been on your feet for seversal hours and your feet are rested.
I have had procedures with my feet, although I am a lot older than you but my probs started when i was very young but i carried on regardless and am paying for it now. I had a ct scan recently on my ankles as they swell and go numb and are painful and have had my toe bones reset.
The procedure is straightforward a nurse will help put you on a bed with your feet inside the scanner and it scans your feet. It will pick up anything untoward going on in your feet. An xray is also straightforward the nurse will take a picture of your feet...the xray will come back while you are there but you will have to have a follow up appointment for the ct scan result.
If they find anything that is not right with your feet the consultant will discuss it with you and decide what steps to take (scuse the pun).......I would go to your doc and ask for a referral as soon as you can because of the waiting period........best wishes to get 'happy feet'.....
